He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again. |
For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. |
Jesus said this to His disciples long before He entered Jerusalem.
He knew what would to happen, yet He willingly went to His destiny: to be the sacrifice that fully pays the price for the sin of the world.
Jesus wasn't tricked into going to the cross, nor was He manipulated. He went with the full knowledge of what lay before Him. He also knew that on the third day His Father's love would come to break the hold of death and open the path to our freedom as well.
