Psalm 144:3 - O LORD, what is man that you care for him?

O LORD, what is man that you care for him, the son of man that you think of him?

LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!

O LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You think of him?

Commentary

What is man? Here the rhetorical question is used to speak of the frailty of humans. In light of the greatness of God, man is utterly insignificant. It's a wonder that God ever takes notice of him.¹ But though brief and fragile, our lives are of supreme concern to God. So much so that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins!
