Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. |
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; |
The belt, the breastplate, and the fitted feet (shoes) are all part of the armor of God that we are to put on daily.
The belt represents truth. Just like a belt buckles tightly around a waist, we are to buckle His truth around ourselves.
The breastplate is used for protection, just like righteousness is our defense.
Our shoes defend and support us. In the same way, the gospel is our foundation and guards us as we walk through our blessed lives.
These are three pieces of many that shield us from harm, a gift from the Lord.
