America has been known for a long time as a pragmatic nation. That's one reason why English is the international business language. But when the most pragmatic thing to do was to leverage money to make a quick dollar, we went from pragmatism to dishonesty - and that caused a lot of money to dwindle away. Many times it is the less spectacular aspect of wise and boring (and long term) gathering that causes growth for the future. America is learning this painful lesson the hard way: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.Today's Commentary by:
