The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you." |
Notice that God initiates His relationship with Abram with a command. Why else would Abram leave the security of his homeland and venture into a wilderness? God had crossed Abram's will with His purposes. This has been the case from the trees in the garden to the One who hung on a tree for our sins. We want to try to understand God with our minds, but God starts with our hearts. This is the message of repentance. Obedience reminds us of who is the Creator and who is the created.
