 | He who ignores discipline despises himself, but whoever heeds correction gains understanding. |
 | He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. |
Refusing to listen to godly instruction and discipline oneself is self-destructive. While it is a natural reaction to be defensive to corrective counsel, the wise will accept and heed such godly correction and discipline from their friends and fellow believers.
