Matthew 18:20 - For where two or three come together in my name

NIV For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.
KJV For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
NASB "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."
Matthew 18:20

Commentary
To meet "in His name" means by His authority, in acknowledgment of all that He is, and in obedience to His Word. Wherever two or three are gathered in recognition of Him as Lord and Savior, he is there in the midst.

In Context

The promise of Jesus' presence also has a larger application, but it immediately applies to decisions in matters of church discipline (see 1 Cor. 5:4).

Did you know?
Jewish tradition requires at least 10 men (a minyan) to constitute a synagogue or even hold public prayer. Here, Christ promised to be present in the midst of an even smaller flock-"two or three witnesses" gathered in His name for the purpose of discipline

Isn't it amazing how laws in Jewish traditions were so clear as to where and when they could pray but then Jesus said that He would be with them even if only two or three prayed! We are so blessed to have a Savior who loves us!
