Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless. |
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. |
He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity. |
Ecclesiastes 5:10 |
Commentary
People who love money are never satisfied; they always want more. Wealth does not buy contentment.
MacDonald, W., & Farstad, A. (1997, c1995). Believer's Bible Commentary : Old and New Testaments (Ec 5:10). Nashville: Thomas Nelson.
The possession of wealth is not always the sign of God's favor. "Why does the way of the wicked prosper?" (Jer. 12:1) became a familiar theme to the writers of the Old Testament. The popular view that wickedness brings poverty and goodness brings wealth is strongly opposed by the Book of Job.

BROKEN DOWN COMMENTARY(ECCLESIASTES 5:10)- A PERSON THAT LOVES MONEY WILL NEVER BE SATISIFIED BECAUSE THEY WANT MORE. FOR EXAMPLE A PERSON WHO LOVES CHIPS LIKE ME WILL NEVER BE SATISFIED BECAUSE IM GOING TO ALWAYS WANT MORE, RIGHT AFTER I FINISH EATING ONE BAG I WON’T BE SATISIFIED BECAUSE IM GOING TO WANT ANOTHER BAG etc.!
