Daily Bible Verse - 8/9/2007 - Proverbs 4:23

NIV Above all else, guard your heart,
for it is the wellspring of life.
KJV Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
NASB Watch over your heart with all diligence,
For from it flow the springs of life.
Proverbs 4:23
The heart is first. It speaks of the inner life, the mind, the thoughts, the motives, the desires. The mind is the fountain from which the actions spring. If the fountain is pure, the stream that flows from it will be pure. As a man thinks, so is he. So this verse emphasizes the importance of a clean thought life.
