Deuteronomy 4:39 - the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below

Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.

Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

Commentary
Since no other God was Creator, Lord of history, Teacher, and the Lover of His people, Israel had to respond to God alone.

OMNIPRESENCE
A theological term that refers to the unlimited nature of God or His ability to be everywhere at all times. God is not like the manufactured idols of ancient cultures that were limited to one altar or temple area. God reveals Himself in the Bible as the Lord who is everywhere. God was present as Lord in all creation (Ps. 139:7-12), and there is no escaping Him. He is present in our innermost thoughts. Even as we are formed in the womb, He knows all the days of our future.
God sees in secret and rewards in secret, as Jesus taught His disciples; He looks not only on outward actions, but especially on the inner attitudes of a person's heart (Matt. 6:1-18). Because God is the Creator and Sustainer of time and space, He is everywhere. Being everywhere, He is our great Comforter, Friend, and Redeemer.

Job 36:22 - Who is a teacher like Him?

God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him?

Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?

Commentary
Elihu says that God intended to teach Job something through his affliction. Rather than trying to correct the Teacher, Job should remember to magnify God's work as Maker of all things. Thus, Elihu is setting the stage for the Lord, who will emphasize this concept in His speeches at the end of the Book of Job (38:1-42:6).

Did you know?
Elihu suggested-probably correctly- that Job was being disciplined and refined by fire for his greater good, or to teach greater truth. Perhaps because of the merit of Elihu's arguments, God did not reproach him the way he did Job's three other friends (42:7-9).
