For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. (NIV)

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
(KJV)

For the earth will be filled
With the knowledge of the glory of the LORD,
As the waters cover the sea. (NASB)

Habakkuk 2:14

Commentary
In contrast to the self-exaltation of the Chaldeans, whose efforts come to naught, God promised that the whole earth would recognize His glory at the establishment of His millennial kingdom (cf. Num. 14:21; Ps. 72:19; Is. 6:3; 11:9).

CHALDEANS [kal DEE unz] (conquerors) - one of the ancient peoples that formed the dominant population in Babylonia, especially beginning with the empire of Nebuchadnezzar II (king of Babylonia from 605 to 562 b.c.). Source: Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Dictionary

Did you know?

Habakkuk is not mentioned by name outside this book (
Habakkuk). But several times the New Testament quotes the phrase from Habakkuk that would later launch the Protestant Reformation: "The just shall live by his faith" (Habakkuk 2:4, King James Version; compare this with Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38).

Daily Bible Verse - 7/14/2007 - Psalm 19:9-10

9 The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever.
The ordinances of the LORD are sure
and altogether righteous.
10 They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb. (NIV)

9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. (KJV)

9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether.
10 They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. (NASB)

Psalm 19:9-10

Commentary
The value of the Scripture cannot be compared with any other desirable thing-even gold. It provides the key to wisdom, joy, and most importantly, eternal life.
